£35m leisure centre opens in Wycombe

£35m leisure centre opens in Wycombe

A £35m leisure centre has opened as part of Wycombe District Council’s Handy Cross Hub development.

Wycombe Leisure Centre represents the first phase of the £150m scheme, which is based on an ‘exercise well, eat well, work well’ mix. In addition to the leisure centre and a full size Waitrose, due to open this spring, the Handy Cross Hub development includes a new purpose-built coachway park and ride and a 150 bed, 3 star hotel.

Operated by Places for People, the new leisure centre includes a 50m competition pool, dive pit and Splash Pad zone; 12 court sports hall, 150-station gym, exercise studios and 10m high climbing wall. Other facilities include squash courts, a four rink bowls centre and meeting rooms.

The old sports centre which has served the district for 40 years will be now be demolished to make way for further development including offices and a hotel at the Handy Cross site.
