International team designs Copenhagen Arena

International team designs Copenhagen Arena

The new Copenhagen Arena is to be designed by a team led by 3XN Architects and featuring British architects, landscape specialists and engineers.

The winning design aims to create a flexible multi-purpose arena that attracts spectators and benefits the local area.

The team comprising 3XN, HKS Architects, Arup, ME Engineers and Planit won the design competition for the arena, which will be situated in the Ørestad-area a short metro ride from the city centre. The interior spaces are designed to be adjusted to suit a range of activities from concerts to sporting events.

Copenhagen Arena will have a capacity of between 12,500 and 15,000 spectators, depending on the type of event taking place. And the project is expected to complete in autumn 2015.
