Bolsover invests in leisure centre to cut costs

Bolsover invests in leisure centre to cut costs

Work is underway on a £4m project to enhance sports and leisure facilities in Clowne while saving Bolsover District Council millions of pounds over the next 20 years.

A new facility is being constructed next to the Clowne Sports Centre to offer a 25m swimming pool and smaller teaching pool; water slide; Sauna/steam room, 100 station gym; exercise studio; sports hall, soft play zone, changing facilities and outdoor pitches.

The council is working with Pulse, which is acting as strategic leisure development partner on the project. Costing £4m to build, the combination of increased usage and income and the reduction in maintenance costs, means the centre is anticipated to save the council more than £3m over the next 20 years after the cost of the investment has been met.

The new facility is set to open to the public in January 2017.
