Work starts on world’s tallest wooden building

Work starts on world’s tallest wooden building

Work gets underway next month on a mixed use development which is hailed as the world’s tallest wooden building.

Arthur and Anders Buchardt of AB Invest and contractor Hent are working together on the turnkey project to build Mjøstårnet in Brumunddal, Norway.

Approximately 15,000sq m in size, the development will span 18 storeys and include a hotel, restaurant, apartments, offices and associated common areas. The project will also include a swimming facility of approximately 4,000sq m.

The main structure is based on glulam, with slab elements consisting of a combination of glulam and Kerto, and façades as wooden elements.

When complete, the building will stand more than 80m high.
