£40m modernisation for Birmingham leisure centres

£40m modernisation for Birmingham leisure centres

Planning permission for three leisure centres has been secured as part of an ambitious £40m modernisation programme in Birmingham.

The leisure centres - in Erdington, Stechford and Northfield - have been designed by Calderpeel Architects for Serco and Birmingham Community Leisure Trust (BCLT) which will operate the facilities.

The leisure centres are being funded by Birmingham City Council and built by ISG Construction. Construction has already started on the new £8m leisure centre in Erdington. Due to open this autumn, the site is located next to the current leisure centre and will feature a 25m swimming pool, a teaching pool, fitness suite and a community space.
