Edition Hotels to debut in Tokyo

Edition Hotels to debut in Tokyo

Marriott International and Ian Schrager are taking their luxury hotel brand to Japan after signing two separate agreements with Mori Trust, the largest owner and franchisee of Marriott International hotels in Japan.

The Tokyo Edition, Ginza and The Tokyo Edition, Toranomon are expected to open in 2020. Conceived by Ian Schrager in a partnership with Marriott International, Edition Hotels is a collection of bespoke hotels designed to reflect the best of the culture of their locations.

The Tokyo Edition, Ginza will be a newly built 13-storey standalone property with 80 guestrooms. Located just off Chuo Street, the main shopping street in Ginza, the hotel site offers convenient access to Ginza-Itchome Station, Ginza Station and Tokyo Station, as well as shopping complexes, restaurants and tourist attractions such as Tokyo Imperial Palace. Construction is expected to start in May 2018, with an opening planned for March 2020.

The 200-room Tokyo Edition Toranomon will be built as part of a redevelopment of the former Pastoral Building, a mixed-use project comprising offices, residences and a medical centre. Located in Minato ward, the hotel site is within walking distance from Kamiyacho Station and Roppongi-Itchome Station. Site excavation work has started, with the hotel opening planned for 2020.
