Multi-million pound transformation for Crewe Town Centre

Multi-million pound transformation for Crewe Town Centre

Crewe Town Centre is to benefit from a multi-million pound renaissance of its Royal Arcade to transform it into a retail and leisure destination.

The £30m mixed use retail and leisure scheme, supported by a 450 space multi-story car park and a new Gateway bus station, will offer more than 90,000sq ft of retail space in addition to an eight screen cinema, associated leisure uses, gym, and five restaurant units.

Cheshire East Council has appointed Cordwell Property Group and Peveril Securities, part of the Bowmer and Kirkland construction and development group, as their development partners for the Royal Arcade.

The Arcade development has been designed by Corstorphine + Wright and will encourage pedestrian flow through a regenerated town centre. The council will invest a further £7.6m in public realm works.

Discussions are underway with a leading cinema, gym operator and restaurants for the scheme, which should start on site in 2018 subject to planning with completion due in 2020.
