£26m hotel for Shepherd’s Bush
Architecture practice BFLS Work has started on site with a £26m hotel that is set to transform the west side of Shepherd’s Bush roundabout in London.
The seven storey, 15,000sq m hotel is being developed on the site of the Shepherd’s Bush Pavilion, a Grade II listed building dating from 1923, which was originally constructed as a cinema. The derelict structure presented an opportunity to give a familiar but neglected landmark a new lease of life.
Commissioned by Kosmopolito Hotels International, BFLS has designed the building to accommodate a new four star, 242 room hotel with associated leisure and retail facilities. To incorporate the new functions, the interiors of the building, which have already been drastically altered from their original state, will be removed, along with sections of the rear elevation. The primary facades will be retained with modifications to bring natural light into the rooms behind. The building will feature of a new glazed roof which follows the curved profile of the original structure.
