Architects and landscapers ReardonSmith have completed a multi-million-euro redevelopment at Adare Manor hotel and golf resort in County Limerick, Ireland.

The project has included not only the renovation of the main buildings, including the 19th century gothic manor house and golf clubhouse, but also the landscaping of the estate’s grounds, by increasing the number of herbaceous plants and shrubs to over 100,000, with the aim of developing the biodiversity and habitat of the parkland and gardens.

New buildings have also been incorporated into the redevelopment, including a new gatehouse, inspired by an earlier historic entrance and constructed of the same limestone as existing buildings on the estate, which has been sourced locally. This entrance takes the visitor through the estate, past the tidal River Maigue and a 13th century castle ruin before reaching the manor house itself. A classically styled colonnade has been designed to connect the manor house to the new west wing with an area for a lawn courtyard and cloister garden. The wing includes 42 guestrooms, a new ballroom and a banqueting suite.
