NAUSICAA, the French National Sea Centre in Boulogne-sur-Mer, opens its new extension this May.

The centre, whose mission is to make people more aware of the need to manage the oceans in a sustainable way, has installed a new 10,000 m3 tank where visitors can experience ‘a voyage on the high seas’, with nearly 60,000 creatures living along the 15,000sq m of exhibition space, and 22,000 creatures being added to the species that are already in place.

The gardens have also been landscaped as part of the project with the exhibition Mankind and Shores being the first point of call, where visitors can explore issues surrounding the management of coastal regions. The education programme has also been updated, with a focus on coral reef sustainability and protection, in association with the Blue Society.
