Steven Holl Architects to design Angers Collectors Museum

Steven Holl Architects to design Angers Collectors Museum

Steven Holl Architects, together with Compagine de Phalsbourg, has won the international design competition for the new Angers Collectors Museum and an adjacent hotel in the centre of the city of Angers in western France.

The 4,742sq m exposed titanium white concrete museum features galleries for permanent and temporary exhibitions and an atrium event space, which will also provide spaces for art education and art storage. There is also a rooftop restaurant that is shared with the hotel.

On site geothermal heating and cooling eliminates fossil fuels, and recycled water fills the reflecting pools that the museum is set in, relating back to the history of the location, which was once part of the river.
