£14m Beaney museum and library reopens

£14m Beaney museum and library reopens

Beaney Art Museum and Library reopens this September following a £14m restoration and extension project.

The project is the result of a partnership between Canterbury City Council and Kent County Council, and its vision is to provide a range of opportunities for people to explore, learn and participate through a variety of permanent museum and art collections, exhibitions, community engagement programmes and educational activities.

The building in the heart of Canterbury has been revitalised by weaving a spacious, light and contemporary space into the original Victorian building which has been restored, doubling its original size.

The Beaney will be home to the city’s library and seven permanent galleries together with an exhibitions gallery and a space for artists and local groups.
