NPD to transform Dunsmore Hall into luxury hotel

NPD to transform Dunsmore Hall into luxury hotel

Hotel and leisure developers Northern Powerhouse Developments (NPD) are to renovate a Grade II listed residence into a luxury hotel and spa retreat.

Lying in the village of Bourton-on-Dunsmore, Dunsmore Hall dates back to 1791 and still retains a number of its original features, including formal gardens and terraces designed and built by the architect H.A Peto.

Over the coming months NPD will sympathetically transform the main hall of the building to provide 56 ensuite bedrooms and will introduce further bedrooms to the existing stable blocks. The company will also build a spa and luxury villas in the grounds.

Meanwhile, the company has also exchanged contracts on the Grade II listed Monk Fryston Hall property between Leeds and York. Dating back to the 12th century, Monk Fryston Hall, which is surrounded by 30 acres of parkland, woodland trails and gardens, was originally home to the Benedictine monks from nearby Selby Abbey.

NPD plans a multi-million pound renovation of the property, which includes upgrading the 30 bedrooms and existing terrace restaurant, and building a new luxury spa complex. Already a popular choice for weddings, under NPD’s proposals the hotel’s two large function rooms will also be sympathetically refurbished. The hotel will remain open throughout the planned rolling programme of renovations.
