A step closer for Spurs stadium

A step closer for Spurs stadium

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are a step closer to achieving their aim of building a new stadium after Haringey Council approved amended plans for the £400m transformation of north Tottenham.

The council’s planning committee gave the green light to amended plans for the Northumberland Development Project, which will deliver a new 56,000-seater stadium as well as homes, businesses and employment.

Tottenham scrapped their plan to challenge West Ham to become the tenants of the Olympic Stadium in Stratford and have instead committed themselves to their original plan for the new stadium adjacent to their current home in White Hart Lane.

Haringey Council will invest £9m towards new and improved public spaces around the stadium and the London Mayor's office has committed £18m to the regeneration of north Tottenham.
