Work has completed on Yorkshire’s first five-star hotel and wellness retreat.

Grantley Hall is a Grade II* listed property near Ripon. Originally built by Thomas Norton and his son Fletcher Norton, the Baron Grantley, in the mid-18th century, the property is based on a Palladian design by English architect Isaac Ware.

Construction consultancy practice Lucas Lee was responsible for the multi-million pound restoration and renovation project. Existing features such as tiling, decorative plasterwork, architraves, skirting, timber panelling and sash windows have been retained and restored, while new were sensitively integrated within the existing fabric. The original windows were restored and double-glazed, while bespoke lighting and tablet-controlled underfloor heating were fitted. A new roof was also installed, and the stonework has been cleaned, repointed and replaced where necessary.

Facilities include the Three Graces Spa with an 18m swimming pool, an indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy pool and a range of thermal experiences; a late-night champagne and cocktail bar, event spaces and Elite, a luxury gym.
