Green light for surf lake scheme

Green light for surf lake scheme

Plans for the UK’s first ‘Wavegarden’ inland surf lake have been approved. by Conwy Council, North Wales.

Conwy Adventure Leisure’s scheme known as Surf Snowdonia will be located on the 40 acre site of the former Dolgarrog Aluminium Works in the Conwy Valley.

The WaveGarden will be complemented by a cable wake board lake, activity lagoon, lodge accommodation and a central hub building designed by Seven Architecture.

Planit Intelligent Environments designed the masterplan for the scheme, which is expected to attract up to 75,000 visitors a year.

The attraction could be open by 2014.
