Summer launch for leisure centre

Summer launch for leisure centre

An £11m leisure centre is on track to open in West Bromwich this summer.

The centre, which will be managed by DC Leisure, includes a 25m swimming pool, learner pool, sauna and steam room, four-court sports hall, 100 station fitness suite, two dance studios, indoor cycling studio, indoor children’s adventure play centre and café.

“Pools across the UK are closing because they are grossly inefficient and councils cannot afford to maintain them. What we have here is a mixture of facilities, design and procedures that will mean the centre is sustainable for the future,” said councillor Steve Eling, deputy leader of Sandwell Council.

Designed by Robert Limberick Architects and built by Pellikaan Construction, the centre is expected to attract between 600 and 700,000 users a year.
