£4.5m revamp at Bridgend Recreation Centre

£4.5m revamp at Bridgend Recreation Centre

Bridgend Recreation Centre has been transformed following a £4.5m redevelopment.

Pulse worked in partnership with Halo Leisure and GLL to manage the design, build and fit out of the facility. The 18-month project included a new-look exterior to the building with powder coated insulated metal cladding panels, inset windows, feature ‘leaning’ bays and full height glazing on the first floor.

The project also included relocating and expanding the gym to 100 stations, creating three new exercise studies to accommodate the extended group exercise programme, installing a 10m climbing wall and developing fully inclusive dry side changing rooms.

The sports hall has been redeveloped into a two storey library, children’s indoor soft play area and four court sports hall. A new thermal suite and spa offers steam room, ice igloo, sauna, heated ceramic beds and experience shower as well as a relaxation area and treatment rooms.

“We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of the redevelopment. It’s a superb addition to our portfolio of development programmes and the careful design and architecture has truly maximised the existing space,” says Aron Nassim, director of projects at Pulse.
