Country park opens up Liverpool skyline

Country park opens up Liverpool skyline

A new country park, Port Sunlight River Park, on the Wirral Coastal Path has officially opened to the public.

With its landscapes designed by Gillespies, Port Sunlight River Park has been created on the former Bromborough landfill site. The 28 hectare park is part of the Wirral Coastal Path and gives access to the River Mersey and views of the Liverpool skyline to visitors for the first time in over 20 years.

People visiting the park will be able to enjoy views of the waterfront and beyond from the top of the 37m high mound.

The site is on a long term lease to The Land Trust, which has appointed Wirral Autistic Society to manage the park.
