Village Hotels choose Crown Sports Lockers for new compact footprint builds

Village Hotels’ second compact footprint build will again include changing rooms prepared and fitted by bespoke furniture manufacturers Crown Sports Lockers.

The operator opened its 153-bed first compact site in Portsmouth late last year, complete with business hub, fast broadband, bar, restaurant, health club and Spinning studio.

Crown fitted lockers surfaced with Village Hotels’ hallmark modular multi-coloured panelling. The second site, at Bristol, is due to open later in 2018 to a similar formula of high-end provision.

The compact sites are among a host of installs Crown have installed and refreshed fit for purpose, robust and eyecatching changing facilities for Village Hotels across the UK over nearly 15 years.

“Their health clubs attract 3,000 members typically and rival any on the high street,” notes Crown Project Manager Spencer Grimwood, “so the quality of changing provision is critical in helping them attract and retain membership in what is a fiercely demanding sector.”

“The compact sites are ringing the changes with a new colour range for their locker panels, including trending grey, a popular choice now for lockers across leisure,” he adds.

“Our compact model delivers benefits across the board,” explains Head of FF & E Gidi Matlin, who was in charge of specifying every fixture and fitting in the hotel – more than 800 separate lines, including changing room provision.

“The RFID proximity readers Crown supplied for the locking system work well within a leisure context,” he says. “Members have everything on one band, from personal bests in the gym to fastest lengths in the pool.

“We swapped out black for white in Portsmouth to create a brighter space, enhanced with the vibrant green,” he explains.” The Portsmouth and Bristol fitouts both two- and three-tier bag lockers in both areas, with hanging space, family changing cubicles, vanities and freestanding benches completing the specification.

“I work with Crown Sports Lockers on changing room new builds and refurbishments across Britain and continue to specify them for very good reasons,” he adds.

“The quality of finish on lockers, cubicles, bench seating and vanities more than meets the high standard of provision our guests and fitness club members demand, consistent reliability, and a single point of contact so I know that I can call them at any time and they are there to help. When you deal with as many suppliers as I have to, that is another key advantage.”
